Create a Sacred Mandala from Nature

TUNE INTO NATURE - She is AMAZING!!! Bring treasures from your travels, home garden or farm to create a beautiful mandala from nature with our festival community!

A nature mandala is a beautiful, temporary artwork created from natural materials and arranged in a circular pattern around a centre point. Like traditional mandalas, it represents connection, balance, wholeness, and the cycles of life — but when made outdoors, it also becomes a way of slowing down, grounding, and honouring the natural world around us.

In nature, mandala patterns are everywhere: in the petals of native wildflowers, the rings of a gum tree, spiralling shells, spiderwebs glistening with dew, seed pods, crystals, feathers, leaves, stones, and the ripples of water. These patterns remind us that life moves in cycles, and that we are part of a much larger web of creation.

Creating a nature mandala can be a gentle spiritual practice — a way to connect with Country, with the elements, and with ourselves. It invites mindfulness, presence, creativity, and respect for the land. Rather than taking too much from the environment, participants are encouraged to gather only what has naturally fallen, such as leaves, bark, flowers, seed pods, feathers, stones, or shells, and to leave living plants undisturbed where possible.

The mandala is not designed to last forever. Its beauty is in its impermanence. Wind, sun, rain, insects, birds, and time will eventually return the materials back to the earth. In this way, the nature mandala becomes a reminder of release, renewal, and the natural flow of life.

Across many spiritual traditions, mandalas have been used as symbols of meditation, healing, prayer, and inner balance. In this nature-based practice, the mandala becomes a personal and collective offering — a moment of gratitude, reflection, and connection with the land beneath our feet.
